The Bermuda Billfish Release Cup is an easy going, fun tournament that benefits the Bermuda Sloop Foundation Adam Goodwin Master Mariner Scholarship program. The tournament kicks off with a best ball putt-putt team competition at the incredible Bermuda Fun Golf Course and features incredible food from the Bone Fish Bar and Grill. Due to the generosity of the participants, the tournament was able to provide two full scholarships this year.
Team Mama Who fishing aboard Sea Hound with Captain Mike King, released two blue marlin on day one and followed up with one blue marlin release on the second day scoring 1500 points to win the 2021 Bermuda Billfish Release Cup. Sales de la Barre caught all of the marlin for team Mama Who to win top angler honors.
Team Triple Play with Captain Andrew Dias had a great tournament scoring 1,000 points from two blue marlin releases and first billfish catches for anglers Bayon Robinson and Gladstone Butterfield. Teammate Khushun Mayho caught a 47.20 pound tuna to win the gamefish category for team Triple Play. The team was incredibly generous donating their winnings to the foundation.
Team Builders Choice with Captain Brent Gaskill released two blue marlin earning 1,000 points placing third in the competition. Angler Tiffany Newlin caught both marlin to take Top Lady Angler honors.
The Junior Angler award went to fourteen year old Jack Ricks for his two blue marlin releases fishing aboard his families boat El Cazador with Captain Paul Alderman Jr.
The Bermuda Billfish Release Cup is presented by the West End Development Company, Royal Naval Dockyard and the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
