Krazy Salt’s Wins the 2021 Bermuda Big Game Classic

Team Krazy Salt’s, an 80’ Viking based out of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida led by owner David Anderson Jr. with Captain Keith Greenberg and mates Mike Mahon, John Cashman and Jeff Thiel held off a charging field to win the 2021 Bermuda Big Game Classic.  Krazy Salt’s began the tournament with three blue marlin releases on day one to lead the tournament.  They added another blue release on day two bringing their total points to 2,000.  Krazy Salt’s did not score on the final day but their 2,000–points were enough to hold off a charging field to take the win earning $109,050. Krazy Salt’s is holding the third place position in the Bermuda Triple Crown Billfish Championship heading into the final leg.

 

Returning for their second time to fish the Big Game Classic, team American Beauty a 52’ Shearline with Captain Michael Butler, mates Ryan McCullough and Pete Lewis earned the largest check of the tournament. Owner Michael Posillico from Miami Beach Florida angled the only qualifying marlin in the tournament weighing 571-pounds to sweep the on the dock optional jackpots winning $156,600.

 

Team Auspicious, an 80’ Viking led by owner Joe Rahman and captain Edward “Cookie” Murray from Palm Beach, Florida won the 2020 BTC Championship and continue to be one of the most consistent teams competing in Bermuda. Auspicious earned 1700-points from three blue marlin and two white marlin releases taking second place in the tournament.  Angler Joe Rahman caught a nice 107.60 yellowfin tuna adding the gamefish prize for a total winnings of $79,295.  Auspicious sits in second place position heading into the final leg of the series.

 

Team Pescador, an 80’ Bayliss led by owner Steven Dechoff from the USVI with captain Jeremy Fowler and mate Mark Jenkins released three blue marlin earning 1500-points to win the third place awards and a nice check for $51,230. Team Pescador has been very consistent in the series and leads the Triple Crown heading into the final leg of the series.

 

Top Lady Angler honor went to Bermudian Brittany Rebello fishing on Reel Magician for her white marlin release.

 

Team Lunatico fishing on Effie Mae with Captain Cory Gillespie had a great tournament as well. Owner Lance Converse from West Palm Beach, Florida earned the Top Angler award of the tournament scoring 1500-points from three blue marlin releases.

 

The 37 team field released 31 blue marlin, 8 white marlin and one spearfish over the three days of fishing. The tournament culminated with the traditional Bacardi cocktail reception, gala awards banquet in the Harbourview Ballroom and DJ entertainment at the Princess Marina.
